The R&D; component of drug discovery, product development and drug modeling functions at EyeTech Research Center depends on core technologies to advance our objectives. The Microscopy lab provides significant and robust imaging capabilities. In order to succeed, this core depends on sophisticated instrumentation, talented staff, a vision for imaging molecules and structures, and support. A minimum staff includes associates gifted in the areas of electron microscopy, immunocytochemistry and confocal laser scanning microscopy and image analysis. Superlative standards for scientific investigation, including experimental technique, analysis, recordings (esp. in a regulated environment), trouble-shooting and thoroughness. Responsible for harvesting and processing of tissues for electron microscopy; conduct expts to localize macro-molecules in cells/tissues; maintain instruments; manage general morphology lab business.

Qualifications
- Transmission and scanning electron microscopy: preparation of reagents, tissue necropsy, processing, sectioning, staining; ultramicrotomy and cryo-ultramicrotomy. Able to make sophisticated experimental calculations.

Skills in freeze-fracture/deep-etch, rotary-replication desirable.
